Demetrius “Meechie” Harvey is a tattoo artist based in Evansville, Indiana, known for black-and-grey realism, hyperrealism, and surreal realism—blending clean contrast, strong storytelling, and high-end detail into bold, timeless work. As the founder behind Black Angels Ink, Demetrius approaches every piece like a one-of-one visual statement, building designs that feel personal, cinematic, and built to last on skin. His style ranges from realism-meets-illustrative concepts to darker surreal compositions, always guided by precision, texture, and emotional depth. Demetrius has earned competitive recognition for his craft, winning 1st and 2nd place for Best Realism at Tattoo Expo and Beyond the Woods (2017–2019), and 2nd place for Illustrative at the Villain Arts Expo in Louisville, KY—cementing his reputation as a versatile artist who can execute both technical realism and creative, conceptual design at a high level.

Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare

Proper healing protects your skin and your artwork. Follow these instructions carefully to keep your tattoo clean, healthy, and looking its best.

Leave the Bandage On

Keep your initial bandage on for the amount of time instructed by your artist. Different bandage types require different wear times, so follow the instructions given at your appointment.

Wash Gently

Wash your hands first. Gently clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your fingertips only—no washcloths, sponges, or scrubbing. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

Moisturize

Once appropriate for your bandage/healing method, apply a very thin layer of Hustle Butter or Aquaphor. Do not over-apply. Your tattoo should feel moisturized, not heavily coated, greasy, or smothered.

Let It Peel

Peeling, flaking, and itching are normal during healing. Do not scratch, pick, or peel your tattoo. Let the skin shed naturally to avoid damaging the tattoo.

Protect from Sun

No swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, lakes, or prolonged soaking until the tattoo is fully healed. Quick showers are fine.

Avoid Soaking

Avoid heavy workouts, excessive sweating, tight clothing, and anything that repeatedly rubs against the tattoo during the early healing period.

Keep clean

Avoid touching your tattoo unnecessarily. Keep dirty surfaces, pet hair, and unwashed clothing or bedding away from the fresh tattoo.

Watch for Infection

Some tenderness, mild redness, itching, and peeling can be normal. Seek medical care if you develop worsening or spreading redness, increasing pain, pus, fever, chills, or other concerning symptoms.

Healing Time

Most tattoos go through the main surface-healing stages over roughly 2–4 weeks, although deeper layers of skin can take longer. Healing varies by person, placement, tattoo size, and skin.
